# Open Writing
Open writing is a tentative name for a writing style or exercise where you write about something, but use purposefully vague language and underdefined/undefined concepts. This exercise fits somewhere between free association writing and precise writing, where concepts are broken down, defined, and explained.
Some potential benefits of this style:
- Triggering diffuse thinking modes
- Make space for more poetic writing
- Breaking writer's block
- Writing more by feel, allowing more precise writing to be less stiff and breathe a bit more
